Peaceful Protest Security: Students and Police Pray Together in Front of National Police Headquarters

The Executive Board of Muhammadiyah University Prof. dr Hamka (BEM Uhamka) held a demonstration in front of the National Police Headquarters main building in South Jakarta. Following speeches, students performed the Ashar prayer in congregation.

BEM Uhamka organised a major demonstration titled “Total Police Reformation” in front of the National Police Headquarters on Thursday, 12 March 2026. After delivering speeches, both students and police hastened to perform the afternoon prayer together.

During this time, a student led the prayer as imam. They used banners and university jackets as prayer mats.

The students and police appeared devout whilst performing the prayer. After finishing, the students continued their demonstration with additional speeches.

Despite the ongoing demonstration, there were no traffic obstructions around the National Police Headquarters. Several police officers remained in position overseeing the demonstration.
