The public can face the Eid al-Fitr 2026/1447 H period with greater peace of mind. The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), has determined that electricity tariffs for the second quarter—April to June 2026—will not increase. This policy decision aims to protect consumers’ purchasing power.

Tri Winarno, Acting Director General of Electricity at the ESDM Ministry, stated that the decision not to raise electricity tariffs adheres to applicable regulations whilst considering the economic conditions of the populace. “The public need not worry, as the government has determined that electricity tariffs for the second quarter of 2026 will remain stable,” he said in an official statement on Tuesday, 17 March.

The decision was made to protect purchasing power ahead of Eid al-Fitr, following calculations of various macroeconomic parameters. The government also appeals to the public to use electricity efficiently and prudently as part of a collective effort to support national energy security.

According to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Regulation No. 7 of 2024 regarding Electricity Tariffs Provided by PT PLN (Persero), tariff adjustments for the 13 non-subsidised customer categories are evaluated quarterly based on changes in realised macroeconomic parameters, including the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar, Indonesia’s Average Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and the Coal Benchmark Price (HBA).

For the second quarter 2026 tariff determination, the macroeconomic parameters used were realisations from November 2025 to January 2026: an exchange rate of Rp16,743.46 per USD, an ICP of USD 62.78 per barrel, inflation of 0.22%, and an HBA of USD 70 per ton in accordance with coal DMO policy.

Based on these parameter calculations, the tariff formula suggested potential changes. However, to protect industrial competitiveness, consumer purchasing power, and national economic stability amid global conditions, the government decided electricity tariffs would remain unchanged. The 25 subsidised customer categories will also see no changes.

Additionally, the ESDM Ministry is encouraging PT PLN (Persero) to maintain electricity supply reliability, improve service quality to customers, and optimise operational efficiency to ensure reliable and sustainable electricity provision.
