Peace Deal Does Not Erase Sanctions for Three West Java Police Officers in HI Roundabout Incident
The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) is preparing sanctions against three of its members involved in a viral incident where a Toyota Alphard ran a red light at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout in Central Jakarta. According to the Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, although a peace agreement has been reached between the parties, the disciplinary and code of ethics enforcement process will continue.
“The peace agreement between the parties does not erase the code of ethics sanctions against the three individuals, First Inspector DG, Brigadier BS, and Brigadier RPW,” Hendra said in Bandung, West Java, on Saturday (25/7/2026).
Hendra stated that the three personnel have undergone an examination by the Profession and Security Division (Bid. Propam) of the West Java Police. “The examination has been conducted by the West Java Police Propam Division on our three members. Sufficient evidence was found of violations of the Police Professional Code of Ethics as per National Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022,” Hendra said.
Hendra explained that the results of the examination will be followed up through the mechanism of the Police Professional Code of Ethics Commission hearing to determine the sanctions for the three members involved. “The results will be followed up through the code of ethics process and the Police professional code of ethics hearing,” he added.
Hendra also conveyed an apology to the security officer involved in the altercation with the three members during the incident. “We convey our apologies to the security guard at the HI Roundabout for the arrogant and inappropriate treatment by the three members of the West Java Police,” he said.
The West Java Police is committed to taking firm and transparent action against any violations committed by its personnel, as a form of accountability to the public. “We, the West Java Police, are committed and consistent in taking firm and transparent action against any violations committed by members,” Hendra stated.
