Peace Agreement Withdrawn, Sudaji Village Head Faces Renewed Detention Threat
The case of alleged fraud and embezzlement involving the Village Head of Sudaji, I Made Ngurah Fajar Kurniawan, has resurfaced. The complainant has withdrawn the peace agreement that served as the basis for suspending the detention, requesting that the legal process be continued.
The complainant, Putu Agus Suriawan, stated that he has officially withdrawn the restorative justice (RJ) request against the suspect. He assessed that there was no good faith from Fajar’s family to fulfil the payment obligations as per the agreement.
“I have withdrawn the peace agreement and the RJ request because there is no clarity on the repayment. Only a portion has been paid, and there is no certainty on the rest,” said Agus on Wednesday (15/4/2026).
According to him, the initial agreement value was Rp 295 million, later negotiated to Rp 200 million. The first payment of Rp 100 million was made on 31 March 2026. Meanwhile, the remaining Rp 100 million was promised to be settled within 14 days from the signing of the peace agreement.
However, up to the deadline, Agus claimed he received no news or communication efforts from the suspect’s side.
“The deadline has passed, but there is no good faith to settle it. Therefore, I choose to continue this case to court,” he said.
In addition to withdrawing the peace agreement, Agus asked the police to revoke the detention suspension status against the suspect and to re-detain him.
“I hope the detention suspension is revoked and the legal process proceeds as it should,” he stated.
Regarding the Rp 100 million he has received, Agus said he will return it all. He emphasised that he no longer demands compensation, but wants the legal process to continue.
“I will return that money. I want this case to be processed according to the applicable law,” he said.
Agus also highlighted the suspect’s attitude after obtaining the detention suspension. He assessed that the suspect has instead caused controversy in the community.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations Section at Buleleng Police Station, Iptu Yohana Rosalin Diaz, has not provided further information regarding the case development.
“No info yet, Sir,” she said.
Previously reported, I Made NFK, the village head or kepala desa in Sawan Subdistrict, Buleleng Regency, was reported by Putu Agus Suriawan (35) for alleged fraud or embezzlement of Rp 50 million funds. NFK lured the victim with a promise of double repayment within a week.
Suspect Fajar has been designated as a suspect and was detained at Buleleng Police Station since Tuesday (31/3/2026). Later, he obtained a detention suspension after a peace agreement with the complainant.
