PDSI Completes Prabumulih Well Drilling, Yields 777 BOPD

PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (PDSI) has completed the drilling of the KRG-042 well in the Karangan Structure, Limau Field, approximately 20 kilometres southeast of Prabumulih City, South Sumatra, recording an initial production test result of 777 barrels of oil per day (BOPD). Vice President of Rig Services Operation at PDSI, Komedi, stated that the development well, owned by PT Pertamina EP Asset 2 (Pertamina Hulu Rokan Zone 4), was successfully completed using Rig PDSI #25.2/LTO750-M in 25 days, faster than the 28-day drilling target. The production test was conducted on 16 July 2026 using an Electric Submersible Pump (ESP). Oil production comes from the TAF-E1 layer at an interval of 1,481-1,482 metres measured depth (mMD), where reservoir pressure remains very good, providing a positive outlook for production sustainability. In addition to completing the work ahead of target, the drilling successfully reached a final depth of 1,697 metres measured depth (mMD) or 1,624.96 metres true vertical depth (mTVD) using the directional drilling method. The entire series of drilling operations was completed with a zero-accident record, reflecting the consistent application of occupational safety standards throughout the activity. In terms of efficiency, the project recorded a cost realisation of approximately 3.18 million US dollars, or 76.15 per cent of the established Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) value. The successful drilling of the KRG-042 well is the result of collaboration across the entire team, prioritising aspects of safety, efficiency, and work quality. Komedi added that the additional production from the KRG-042 well is expected to strengthen the domestic oil supply while supporting efforts to increase national oil production.
