PDIP's Utut on Coalition Secretaries-General Meeting: 'It's Part of the Game'

The secretaries-general of political parties in the Red and White Coalition supporting the government of President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting. PDIP elites, who were not involved in the meeting, considered it normal and part of political strategy.

“I cannot comment, because this should be asked of Mr Hasto. But, as I see it, people meeting is part of the game, right, it is normal… normal,” PDIP deputy secretary-general Utut Adianto told reporters at the MPR/DPR/DPD building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026).

The chairman of the PDIP faction in the DPR assessed that the parties were demonstrating unity in their vision for the government. Utut cited the need for government cohesion in facing the presentation of the 2027 state budget and financial note in the DPR.

“They are united, perhaps wanting one vision in facing the state budget, wanting one vision in the financial note,” Utut said.

It is known that the meeting of the secretaries-general was held on Thursday (13/8) evening. Gerindra Party secretary-general Sugiono hosted the meeting.

Sugiono said the meeting took place in a warm dinner atmosphere. The gathering was described as a space for national fellowship as well as a reflection on the nearly two-year journey of President Prabowo Subianto’s government.

Sugiono said the meeting was an occasion for fellowship and also a momentum to strengthen communication and ties among coalition parties ahead of the commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day.

“This meeting is a gathering that had not previously been possible. We gathered in a family atmosphere to welcome the anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia while reflecting on the coalition’s journey during nearly two years of the government of President Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka,” Sugiono said in a statement to reporters.

A number of secretaries-general who attended came from the Gerindra Party, Golkar Party, National Awakening Party, Democratic Party, National Mandate Party, Prosperous Justice Party, NasDem Party, Indonesian Solidarity Party, Crescent Star Party, Gelora Party, Garuda Party, and the Just and Prosperous People’s Party.

According to Sugiono, the presence of the secretaries-general from the Advanced Indonesia coalition parties was a form of political communication that continues to be maintained in supporting the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and the Red and White Cabinet.
