PDIP's Stance on the 5 Per Cent Parliamentary Threshold

The Chairman of the Honour Committee of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) DPP, Komarudin Watubun, stated that the proposed 5 per cent parliamentary threshold is an ideal figure to achieve the simplification of political parties.

“The 5% figure is ideal. There will certainly be considerations regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of governance. Therefore, the more political parties are simplified, the easier it becomes to consolidate power,” he said when met at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.
