The Chairman of the PDIP Central Executive Board, Said Abdullah, is unconcerned after his party’s electability fell significantly behind Gerindra in a party electability survey released by the Poltracking institute on Wednesday (23/9).

Said admitted he was not surprised and considers the survey results to be a common political dynamic. For his party, he stated, the most important thing is to continue being present among the people.

“It is quite normal, that sort of thing. There is no need for us to be shocked,” Said said at the parliamentary complex on Thursday (24/9).

“The most important thing for PDIP Perjuangan is to ensure we do not become complacent; we must continue to fight and, God willing, we will win,” he added.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Budget Committee further admitted that he continues to monitor survey results, which have been fluctuating recently. Prior to the Poltracking release, PDIP was also trailing Gerindra by a margin of approximately 5 per cent.

He considers this to be part of the usual dynamics. “Two weeks ago, the survey showed a difference of 2.21 per cent, with Gerindra at 17 per cent and PDIP at almost 16.7 per cent. Suddenly, three weeks later, PDIP Perjuangan is at 11 per cent while Gerindra has risen. Next week, Gerindra could be at 27 per cent and PDIP at 8 per cent; surveys are constantly being played with over the next four months,” he said.

Gerindra holds the top position in the Poltracking survey results with an electability of approximately 23.2 per cent, leading far ahead of PDI-P, which sits in second place with 11.6 per cent.

The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews involving 1,220 respondents spread across 38 provinces in Indonesia, during the period of 14-20 September.

In third place is Golkar with 10.4 per cent, followed by PKB at 6.2 per cent, Democratic Party at 6.1 per cent, and NasDem at 4.4 per cent. Subsequently, PAN stands at 3.4 per cent, PKS at 3.3 per cent, PSI at 2.3 per cent, and PPP at 1.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Spokesperson for the Gerindra Party Central Executive Board, Sugiat Santoso, stated that he does not wish to be overconfident after leading far ahead of PDIP in the Poltracking survey.

Gerindra, Sugiat said, respects all parties as part of a democracy. Furthermore, according to him, electability is always dynamic, moving alongside public dynamics and perceptions.

“We realise that electability levels can change alongside the dynamics and perceptions of the public. Therefore, the most important thing for Gerindra is to continue maintaining that trust,” Sugiat said when contacted on Wednesday (23/9).
