PDIP's Response to Being Called a Strong Axis for the 2029 Presidential Election

PDIP Chairman, Ganjar Pranowo, has spoken out after his party was identified as a crucial axis in the upcoming 2029 General and Presidential Elections. Ganjar emphasised that his party is currently focused on assisting with disaster management in various regions and is not yet prepared to discuss election matters.

“We are concentrating on assisting with the disaster in NTT, remaining vigilant regarding volcanic eruptions, and addressing drought conditions where communities require significant water supplies, alongside the impact of forest fires on the public,” Ganjar said when contacted on Tuesday (8/9).

Ganjar noted that this series of disasters represents a significant task that requires collective concentration. He argued that existing resources must be led and mobilised effectively.

“The NTT earthquake requires assistance, flooding in Aceh and surrounding areas needs to be resolved, forest fires must be extinguished immediately, and drought and clean water shortages need urgent help as this dry season is likely to be prolonged,” he said.

“Added to this are several volcanic eruptions impacting other sectors. These are the people’s problems that must be addressed today,” Ganjar added.

Previously, the Vice Chairman of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, referred to PDIP as an important axis in the presidential election, alongside the ‘Solo’ and ‘Cikeas’ factions, which are believed to be preparing their positions.

Doli highlighted a speech by the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurci Yudhoyono, during the 25th anniversary of the Democratic Party on Saturday (5/9). He expressed full agreement with AHY’s statement regarding power being a mandate with a fixed term.

“However, judging by the nuance of the delivery, gestures, and standing position, AHY appears to be sending a strong signal that he is ready to be one of the contenders in the upcoming Presidential Election,” Doli said when contacted on Monday (7/9).

The Vice Chairman of the DPR Legislative Committee is also waiting for another important political axis, namely Teuku Umar or PDIP, to declare its readiness to compete in the 2029 Presidential Election contest.

“It would be quite unique if, in the near future, another important political axis (Teuku Umar) does not declare its readiness to fight in the 2029 Presidential Election,” he said.
