PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto affirmed that the true permanent coalition is with the people. He made the remarks while responding to the discourse on forming a permanent coalition championed by the Golkar Party.

“For PDI Perjuangan, the permanent coalition is with the people, because our political system since the fall of Suharto has restored the meaning of power as being for the people, from the people, and by the people,” Hasto said in Jakarta on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

According to him, PDIP firmly upholds the principle that power rests entirely in the hands of the people, regardless of recent political dynamics.

Therefore, regarding the discourse on forming a permanent coalition, Hasto said PDIP does not interfere with the sovereignty of other political parties.

“Political dynamics are indeed very dynamic — changes in the national political map configuration occur, and inter-party cooperation can be established. But if a party proposes permanent cooperation, well, for PDI Perjuangan, we do not interfere with the sovereignty of other parties,” he said.

The discourse on forming a permanent coalition was announced in the results of Golkar Party’s First National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) of 2025 in December last year. The permanent coalition would serve as a binding form of political cooperation in parliament and government.

Golkar Party General Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia said the purpose of the permanent coalition is to ensure that every strategic government policy receives stable political support, to accelerate the decision-making process, and to maintain the continuity of long-term national development.

“Political stability is a primary prerequisite for sustainable development,” Bahlil said in a press release received in Jakarta on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

The Golkar Party stated that the permanent coalition represents a transformation of political cooperation patterns from merely tactical electoral coalitions toward the formation of ideological and strategic coalitions based on shared platforms and policy agendas.

“This permanent coalition is not built solely to win presidential election contests,” he said.

Meanwhile, Golkar Party House Faction Chairman Muhammad Sarmuji said on Friday, February 13, 2026, that his party has been communicating with other political party factions in parliament to realize the permanent coalition discourse.
