PDIP's BBHAR Sues Zulfan Lindan and Total Politik in South Jakarta District Court
Jakarta, VIVA – The legal team of the People’s Legal Aid and Advocacy Body (BBHAR) of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has sued Zulfan Lindan and PT Temukan Perspektif Indonesia, the company overseeing Total Politik, at the South Jakarta District Court.
The unlawful act lawsuit was filed by Abdul Rohman, a PDIP cadre and member of the BBHAR legal team, and was registered on 23 June 2026 under case number 712/Pdt.G/2026/PN JKT.SEL.
According to the South Jakarta District Court’s case tracking information system, Zulfan Lindan is listed as the first defendant, while PT Temukan Perspectif Indonesia is the second defendant.
Rohman said the lawsuit was filed after his side had first pursued the press dispute resolution mechanism through the Press Council.
However, according to Rohman, the right of reply and the Press Council’s recommendations have not been fully implemented by Total Politik.
“We have gone through the dispute resolution mechanism via the Press Council. The Press Council also issued recommendations that should be carried out, but as of the filing of this lawsuit, the right of reply and those recommendations have not been fully honoured by Total Politik,” Rohman said in a written statement on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
Rohman stressed that the legal action was not taken abruptly. He said BBHAR had previously given Total Politik the opportunity to publish a right of reply and an apology, as well as to link it to the original content in question.
“Because we have pursued the ethical mechanism, but restitution for the information harmful to PDI Perjuangan has not been fully made, we then exercised our legal right by filing a civil suit,” he said.
According to Rohman, the Press Council also stated that Total Politik is not registered as a verified press company in accordance with the regulations governing press companies.
“During the dispute resolution process, we also obtained information that Total Politik is not registered or verified as a press company with the Press Council. Nevertheless, from the outset we continued to prioritise the Press Council mechanism as a gesture of good faith,” he said.
The lawsuit relates to statements made by Zulfan Lindan on a Total Politik broadcast, which BBHAR deemed to contain misleading information about PDIP.
