PDIP has withdrawn its support for the Regent of North Bolaang Mongondow (Boltara), Sirajudin Lasena, following a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). PDIP has ensured that support will be revoked for anyone who commits violations.

“After being elected, there has been no further communication,” said PDIP Central Executive Board Chairman Komarudin Watubun to reporters on Tuesday (22/9/2026).

Komarudin stated that PDIP maintains a tradition of withdrawing support for endorsed candidates if they commit organisational disciplinary violations. Such violations include criminal acts of corruption as well as ethical breaches, such as sexual misconduct.

“Regardless of that, it is a tradition in PDIP Perjuangan that whoever is supported—whether they are a party member or not—if they commit organisational disciplinary violations, particularly regarding corruption or ethical breaches such as sexual misconduct and so on, we will withdraw our support,” he explained.

“If they are a member, we will dismiss them. But if they are not a party member and we only endorsed them, we withdraw our support,” he added.

Komarandum emphasised that Sirajudin is not a member of PDIP. Therefore, he noted, the sanction imposed is the withdrawal of support for his position as Regent.

“Since he has committed a disciplinary violation and is not a party member, what we must do is withdraw our support for his regency,” he said.

Previously, PDIP confirmed that the Regent of North Bolaang Mongondow, Sirajudin Lasena, who was caught in the KPK sting operation, is not a party cadre. PDIP clarified that they only endorsed Sirajudin during the 2024 Regional Head Elections.

This was stated by PDIP Central Executive Board Chairman Andreas Hugo after seeking confirmation from the Chairman of the North Sulawesi PDIP Regional Board, Olly Dondokambey. He stated that Sirajudin is a civil servant (ASN).

“After being checked and explained by the Chairman of the North Sulawesi PDIP Regional Board, Olly Dondokambey, it turns out that the Regent of North Bolaang Mongondow, Sirajudin Lasena, who was caught in the KPK sting, has a background as a civil servant and is not a member of PDI Perjuangan,” Andreas told reporters on Tuesday (22/9).

Regent of Boltara Named Suspect

The KPK has named the Regent of North Bolaang Mongondow, Sirajudin Lasena, as a suspect in an alleged extortion and gratification case. Sirajudin is the sole suspect among a total of 14 individuals caught in the KPK sting operation.

“After sufficient evidence was found during the investigation stage, the KPK has named one person as a suspect, namely SJL (Sirajudin Lasena) as the Regent of North Bolaang Mongondow for the 2025-2030 period,” said Acting Director of KPK Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein during a press conference at the KPK building, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (22/9).

Sirajudin is charged under Article 12 letter e and/or Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes. The KPK has subsequently detained Sirajudin at the KPK Red and White Building detention centre.
