PDIP Urges Thorough Investigation into Security Guard's Death at Jatiluhur Reservoir

PDIP faction leader in Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Nasyirul Falah Amru, known as Gus Falah, has urged that the case surrounding the death of Sumarna (42), a security officer at Jatiluhur Reservoir in Purwakarta, be investigated thoroughly. Gus Falah believes the case must be taken seriously.

“We demand that this case be uncovered completely. The public has the right to legal certainty, while the victim’s family deserves justice,” Gus Falah told reporters on Thursday (30/7/2026).

Gus Falah acknowledged there are several obstacles in the investigation process. However, he stressed that these limitations must not diminish efforts to find the perpetrator.

“Law enforcement must be carried out firmly against the perpetrators of crime. The state must be present to provide a sense of security to the public and ensure that every criminal act is processed according to the applicable law,” he asserted.

Gus Falah also expressed his condolences to the victim’s family. He hopes the investigation will soon yield results so that the perpetrator can be held legally accountable.

According to him, uncovering this case is important not only to provide justice for the victim and his family, but also to maintain public trust in the law enforcement process.

Sumarna was found dead on the shore of the Ubrug Dam area, Purwakarta Regency, West Java, on Friday (24/7) afternoon. When discovered, the victim, who was still wearing his full duty uniform, was in a horrific condition with both hands handcuffed behind his back.

Police are currently still investigating the case and have conducted a case review.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pipit Rismanto is giving special attention to the suspected murder case of the security guard whose body was found with his hands handcuffed at Jatiluhur Reservoir. Pipit has deployed a joint team from the West Java Regional Police to assist the Purwakarta Resort Police.

“Yes, Purwakarta, this is currently in process. We have ordered our ranks, and the Director of General Criminal Investigation is also involved,” Pipit told the media at the West Java Police Headquarters, as reported by detikjabar on Wednesday (29/7/2026).
