The Central Leadership of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) hopes that the seventh President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), can present his diploma during upcoming field visits to various regions soon. Andreas Hugo Pareira, a member of the House of Representatives from the PDIP faction, noted that constituents in his East Nusa Tenggara electoral district are particularly curious about the diploma controversy surrounding Jokowi. He suggested that Jokowi could directly address the issue during his visits.

‘In East Nusa Tenggara, people often ask me, ’Is President Jokowi’s diploma genuine or fake?’ If he visits there, the public can simply ask him directly,’ Andreas said during a PDIP training session in North Jakarta on Saturday (30 May).

East Nusa Tenggara is one of three provinces scheduled for Jokowi’s field visits starting late June, alongside West Sumatra and Lampung.

The deputy chairman of Commission XIII of the House of Representatives stated his party is not concerned about Jokowi’s visits, adding that PDIP remains confident of winning elections even after losing its former member.

‘What’s there to worry about? We won even when he was president,’ Andreas said.

Djarot Saiful Hidayat, PDIP’s Ideology Chief, stressed that Jokowi’s visits would strengthen party unity, adding he is unconcerned about the planned trips.

Similarly, Djarot urged an end to the diploma controversy drama, urging Jokowi to present his diploma directly to the public during his visits.

‘He should explain and show it to ensure the public is fully convinced the diploma is genuine. Just present it,’ he said.

Previously, PSI’s Political Affairs Chief Bestari Barus stated Jokowi will visit several regions soon, confirming the initial destinations as Lampung, East Nusa Tenggara, and West Sumatra for meeting the public.

Jokowi will also meet PSI volunteers and officials during his visits.

‘He will visit those who have interacted with him across regions, including stopping by PSI regional offices to offer motivation,’ Bestari said.
