PDIP Unfazed by Coalition Secretaries-General Meeting

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Andreas Hugo Pareira, a senior official of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), said his party did not object to a meeting of several coalition party secretaries-general held in Jakarta on Thursday evening. “I don’t know, that’s their business,” Andreas said when asked about the meeting at the parliament complex on Friday. He stated he was not yet aware of the detailed agenda of the meeting, which was held at the residence of Gerindra Party Secretary-General Sugiono. “No, I don’t know about it,” he said. When asked about PDIP’s stance on the gathering, Andreas stressed that his party had no issue with it. “It’s fine,” he said. Previously, Sugiono had invited a number of party secretaries-general to his home in Jakarta on Thursday evening for a friendly gathering ahead of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence. Sugiono said the meeting also served as a momentum to strengthen communication among political parties. The meeting was attended by secretaries-general from various parties within the government coalition, both those with seats in parliament and those without. Parties present included Golkar, the National Awakening Party (PKB), the Democratic Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the NasDem Party, the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Gelora Party, the Garuda Party, and the Just and Prosperous People’s Party (Prima).
