PDIP Spokesperson: Jokowi's Planned Central Java Tour Reflects PSI's Arrogance

PDIP spokesperson, Guntur Romli, has described the plan for Indonesia’s seventh President, Joko Widodo, alias Jokowi, to conduct ‘blusukan’ (field visits) to several regions as an act of arrogance by the PSI party.

He stated that the plan does not need to be taken seriously, let alone feared. “It is merely a form of PSI’s arrogance, not a statement that needs to be responded to, much less feared,” said Gunrom, as he is affectionately known, when contacted on Sunday (5/7).

This statement was made by Gunrom in response to Jokowi’s planned visits to Central Java in mid-July. Gunrom believes that PSI and Jokowi will not be able to achieve much, even though the visits are planned for Central Java, which is considered a stronghold for the PDIP (the ‘Bull’s den’). In his view, PSI is simply being overconfident.

He noted that PSI has yet to enter parliament, despite receiving direct support from Jokowi during his presidency leading up to the 2024 election. “Even with the full support of Jokowi when he was still president, with the tagline ‘PSI is Jokowi’s Party’ and featuring Jokowi’s photo on all billboards, Jokowi himself failed to get PSI into office, let alone a presidency,” he remarked.

Jokowi is expected to be accompanied by his son, who is also the General Chair of PSI, Kaesang Pangarep, during his safari in Central Java. However, the specific regencies and cities to be visited have not yet been disclosed.

“Hopefully, this can proceed by mid-July,” said the Chairman of the PSI Central Java Regional Leadership Council (DPW), Antonius Yogo, following a meeting with Jokowi at his residence in Sumber, Solo, Central Java, on Friday (3/7).
