PDIP Spokesperson: Jokowi's Planned Central Java Tour Reflects PSI's Arrogance

A spokesperson for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Guntur Romli, has labelled former President Joko Widodo’s planned tour of several regions as an act of arrogance by the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). He stated that the plan should not be taken seriously or be a cause for worry. “It is just a form of arrogance from PSI, not a statement that needs to be responded to, let alone worried about,” said Romli, who is familiarly known as Gunrom, when contacted on Sunday (5/7). The statement was made in response to Jokowi’s plan to visit Central Java in mid-July. Gunrom expressed confidence that PSI and Jokowi would not be able to achieve much, even if the tour takes place in Central Java, which is considered a stronghold of the PDIP. He suggested that PSI has simply become conceited, as the party has still not managed to enter parliament, despite receiving full support from Jokowi when he was president ahead of the 2024 election. “Even with the full support of Jokowi, who was president at the time, with the tagline ‘PSI is Jokowi’s Party’ and putting up Jokowi’s photos on all their billboards, the president failed to get PSI into parliament, let alone now that he is no longer president,” he said. Jokowi is reportedly planning to be accompanied by his son, PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep, on the tour to Central Java. However, the specific regencies or cities they will visit remain unknown. “Hopefully, by mid-July, this can proceed,” said the Chairman of the PSI Regional Executive Board for Central Java, Antonius Yogo, after meeting Jokowi at his residence in Sumber, Solo, Central Java, on Friday (3/7).
