PDIP Sends Letter to National Nutrition Agency Head Requesting Data on Cadres Involved in Free Nutritious Meal Programme

The Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has sent an official letter to the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) requesting data related to allegations of involvement by its cadres who are suspected of playing a role in or receiving benefits from the free nutritious meal programme (MBG). The letter was signed by PDIP DPP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto and Head of the DPP Party Honour Division Komarudin Watubun on 22 June, regarding a Request for Data and Information Related to the MBG Programme. “The PDIP DPP requests your assistance in providing the necessary data and information,” the letter stated. The letter was issued following up on a party instruction via a previous letter on 24 February that no cadres in the executive, legislative, or structural branches should utilise the MBG for financial gain. The data request is also intended in light of the legal process concerning alleged corruption within the programme, which has now implicated several senior figures. “Therefore, internal party clarification and verification steps are needed regarding parties suspected of having links to Party cadres,” it said. Specifically, through the letter, the PDIP DPP requested that the BGN submit a number of data points regarding the involvement of its cadres in the MBG. The requested data includes the names of individuals, business entities, foundations, cooperatives, and other parties involved in the MBG programme. Secondly, details of the form of involvement of the said parties in the implementation of the MBG. Thirdly, other relevant supporting data that can be used for clarification purposes and the enforcement of organisational discipline. “The data and information provided will be used solely for the internal interests of the organisation in the context of enforcing Party ethics and discipline, while still observing the provisions of applicable laws and regulations,” it stated.
