PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto Appointed Permanent Lecturer at Bung Karno University
Sekretaris Jenderal (Sekjen) PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto has been appointed as a permanent lecturer at Bung Karno University (UBK) in Jakarta.
Hasto confirmed the appointment after delivering a public lecture at the campus on Thursday (11/6). The lecture was part of the university’s 27th-anniversary celebrations and focused on the geopolitical thought of Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno.
“This public lecture is part of the process and my responsibility after being appointed as a permanent lecturer at Bung Karno University,” Hasto stated.
He explained that he will teach geopolitics, drawing on Sukarno’s framework. During his lecture, Hasto argued that Sukarno’s geopolitical thinking remains highly relevant today. He suggested that President Prabowo Subianto could utilise Sukarno’s geopolitical cycle to position Indonesia as a peace facilitator, particularly regarding the Middle East conflict.
“If President Prabowo intends to make Indonesia a peace facilitator for Middle Eastern issues, this (Sukarno’s Geopolitical Cycle) can be used,” Hasto said.
Hasto also noted that he will teach across multiple faculties, including politics and economics, and will incorporate material on strategic leadership, a subject aligned with his second doctoral degree from the University of Indonesia.
