PDIP Reveals Trail of Jokowi's Betrayals in Response to JK's Anger at Insults
PDI-Perjuangan politician Guntur Romli has once again alluded to the trail of betrayals by Indonesia’s seventh President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), upon observing Jusuf Kalla’s (JK) anger towards those dragging him into the Jokowi diploma case.
Gunrom, as he is affectionately known, emphasised that his party has closed the book on Jokowi. They no longer wish to be associated with their former cadre.
“PDI Perjuangan has closed the book on Mr Jokowi; he has been expelled. We no longer want to discuss or be linked to Jokowi,” Gunrom said when contacted on Monday (20/4).
Gunrom views JK’s statement as implying that Jokowi has indeed betrayed many people who played roles in his political career. This is not only towards PDI-Perjuangan but also others outside the party.
“From Bu Mega, Mr JK, Mas Hasto Kristiyanto, Mas Ganjar Pranowo, Mas Pramono Anung (in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada), Bu Risma, Mr Andika Perkasa, Mas FX Rudy, Mr Ahok, and PDI Perjuangan,” said Gunrom.
“And not only to PDI Perjuangan people, but also to Mr Anies Baswedan and Mr Tom Lembong, all of whom once helped Jokowi,” he added.
According to Gunrom, these names are individuals who contributed significantly to Jokowi’s political career, only to be repaid with betrayal.
“The names I mentioned all contributed greatly to Jokowi’s career, but what was the response? Betrayal,” said Gunrom.
The relationship between Jokowi and JK has heated up recently due to the diploma issue. The matter has recently widened after JK was reported for alleged blasphemy through his lecture at UGM.
In a press conference on 18 April, JK stated that Jokowi could become President because he helped push him to Megawati when running in the 2012 DKI Jakarta Pilgub.
“Who brought Jokowi to Jakarta? I brought him from Solo to become Governor. I brought him. I went to Ibu Mega, ‘Ibu, this is a good PDI-Perjuangan candidate.’ ‘Ah, no.’ I came again, finally she agreed, and he became Governor,” said JK, imitating the conversation with Megawati.
“Tell all those termul-termul that Jokowi became President because of me. Without being Governor, how could he become President?” he added.
Meanwhile, Jokowi has responded to JK’s statement. Jokowi claims he is indeed nobody.
“Yes, I am nobody. I am a village person,” said Jokowi on Monday (20/4).
