PDIP Responds to Puan Not Signing Asset Forfeiture Bill Commitment Letter from Botok Pati et al.

PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto has responded to the absence of the signature of House Speaker and PDIP DPP Chairwoman Puan Maharani on a commitment letter for the completion of the Asset Forfeiture Bill made by the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB). Hasto said the DPR leadership is collective-collegial in nature.

It is known that the commitment letter only contained the signatures of DPR deputy speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Sari Yuliati, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal, and Saan Mustopa. Hasto said the DPR leadership’s response regarding the previous mass action had been discussed by Puan, Dasco, and other DPR leaders.

“Yes, the DPR leadership is collective-collegial. I received a report from the faction that previously the response to the demonstration was discussed together by Mbak Puan Maharani, Mas Dasco, and other DPR leaders,” Hasto said at the Megawati Institute building in Central Jakarta on Friday (28/8/2026).

Hasto affirmed PDIP’s commitment to eradicating corruption. He said the PDIP DPP had assigned the faction to provide an explanation regarding the matter.

“Therefore, the PDI Perjuangan DPP assigned the faction to provide an explanation because the commitment to eradicating corruption is part of PDI Perjuangan’s political stance. In fact, one of the reasons for PDI Perjuangan’s existence is the struggle against various forms of corruption, collusion, and nepotism that occurred during the 32 years of Soeharto’s rule,” he explained.

“So, PDI Perjuangan’s commitment is beyond doubt, including our proactive stance in completing the Asset Forfeiture Bill. Because in Indonesia, many things have been seized, even the people’s votes were seized in the election,” he continued.

Hasto further affirmed that PDIP supports the completion of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. According to him, this stance was also conveyed in the party congress decision.

“Yes, it has been explained. In fact, we also conveyed it in the stance of our congress decision,” he said.

“But we must also see that eradicating corruption is a unified commitment that requires leadership aspects. Our national leader must also be very firm, then the law enforcement apparatus, we must build the supremacy of law,” he continued.

According to him, the existence of a law must be accompanied by the commitment of all state administrators. Hasto emphasised that eradicating corruption requires a comprehensive commitment.

“So the law must be seen in its spirit, but also the commitment of all state administrators. PDI Perjuangan has full commitment, in fact the KPK was born during the leadership of Ibu Megawati Soekarnoputri,” he said.

As is known, DPR leaders received activist Supriyono alias Botok from the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB) along with several colleagues at the parliament building. In the audience, the DPR committed that the Asset Forfeiture Bill would be passed in December 2026.

The audience between DPR leaders and Botok Pati and colleagues was held in the Abdul Muis room of the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (27/8). The meeting was led by Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and attended by Saan Mustopa and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal.

“Alright, thank you. So we have heard the aspirations from all of you. Earlier in the plenary meeting, we conveyed, agreed, and approved that the latest time limit for the Asset Forfeiture Bill will be passed in the plenary session on 15 December 2026,” Dasco said to Botok and colleagues.
