PDIP Requests Data from BGN on Cadre Involvement in Free Nutritious Meal Programme

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has sent an official letter to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) requesting data on party cadres suspected of involvement in the procurement of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) project.

PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto explained that this step was taken in response to a statement by a senior BGN official who claimed that almost all political parties were involved in the programme’s procurement. PDIP wants to ensure that none of its cadres are seeking personal gain from a programme intended for the public.

“Regarding the letter sent by the PDIP Central Executive Board, we have yet to receive a response. We sent the letter after the Deputy Head of BGN at the time stated that nearly all political parties were involved in the procurement through the SPPG,” Hasto told reporters at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) in Central Jakarta on Saturday (18/7/2026).

Hasto stated that his party felt it necessary to take internal corrective measures if the BGN’s claim proved to be true. “Because the statement came from an authority within the National Nutrition Agency, the party then sent a letter so that we could take steps to correct and enforce discipline internally,” he said.

He added that PDIP has strict rules prohibiting all its members from misusing government programmes for financial gain, including involvement in the MBG. “The party has adopted a policy that every member and party cadre is prohibited from engaging in any process to seek profit from a programme that should be dedicated to the people’s interests,” he added.

Hasto stated that his party is still waiting for a reply from the BGN regarding the requested data. He indicated that a second letter would be sent if the request for information remains unanswered. “Well, if there is no answer yet, we will send a second letter later,” he concluded.
