PDIP Reaffirms Support for Asset Forfeiture Bill, Hasto Highlights Megawati's Role in Establishing KPK

PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts to eradicate corruption. The party led by Megawati Soekarnoputri also expressed its support for the deliberation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill currently underway in the DPR.

PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto said his party’s commitment to eradicating corruption has been clearly conveyed. In fact, this stance has become part of the PDIP congress decisions.

“Yes, it has been explained, and we have even conveyed it in the stance of our congress decisions,” said Hasto, quoted on Saturday, 29 August 2026.

The statement was made by Hasto when affirming PDIP’s position on the anti-corruption agenda, including the deliberation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill.

Hasto emphasised that PDIP has not only declared its commitment to eradicating corruption but is also pushing for the deliberation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill currently underway in the DPR.

According to him, eradicating corruption cannot rely solely on the existence of legislation. The effort also requires commitment from law enforcement officials and the government.

Hasto assessed that national leadership plays an important role in ensuring that corruption eradication can be carried out firmly.

“But we must also see that eradicating corruption is a unified commitment that requires leadership, and our national leader must also be very firm,” said Hasto.

He then stressed the importance of building the supremacy of law through law enforcement officials. According to Hasto, the existence of legislation must be viewed not only from the regulatory aspect but also from the spirit and commitment of all state administrators.

“Then our law enforcement officials must build the supremacy of law, so that legislation must be seen in terms of its spirit but also the commitment of all state administrators,” he continued.

On the occasion, Hasto also touched on the role of PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri when she served as the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Hasto said the history of corruption eradication in Indonesia is also part of Megawati’s leadership record. He cited the establishment of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) during Megawati’s administration as evidence of that commitment.

According to Hasto, the existence of the KPK is one of the things that demonstrates PDIP’s attention to the anti-corruption agenda.
