PDIP on Jokowi's Planned Visits: There Must Not Be More Than One Sun
The spokesperson for PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), Ansy Lena, has responded to the planned visits of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokous), to several regions this coming June. Ansy stated that Jokowi’s activities are currently irrelevant and of no importance to PDIP. In her view, these planned visits should raise significant questions for the political parties within the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming governing coalition.
She argued that the coalition must ensure the true intent and purpose of Jokowi’s activities are clear, questioning whether they are intended to support President Prabowo’s administration or serve purely personal interests. “Because today we know that the President is Prabowo Subianto, and President Prabowo is like the sun. In an orchestration, he is like the sole conductor leading to produce excellent harmony,” she remarked during the Inside Politics programme on CNN Indonesia on Tuesday.
Ansy warned that such visits should not result in negative impacts or cause divisions within the Red and White Cabinet. She noted that the Prabowo-Gibran administration is currently entering a crucial phase of work during the first two years of its leadership. “The question is whether this contributes value to the performance of President Prabowo Subianto’s cabinet, or if it might disrupt the harmony, internal consolidation, and the focus of President Prabowo’s work,” she said.
Furthermore, she questioned whether these actions are being viewed as political manoeuvres aimed at the 2029 election contest. During the session, Ansy also reminded all political parties, particularly those in the Prabowo-Gibran coalition, to remain focused on working for the public interest. She argued that the priority should not merely be meeting people in the regions, but addressing real needs through government action, such as job creation and increasing public income.
Consequently, she urged all political parties to ensure the success of President Prabowo’s work plan, warning against parties pursuing their own individual agendas. “Remember, there must not be more than one sun. Everyone must focus. We can imagine if there are ten supporting parties for the government and each has its own agenda; we can be certain that President Prabowo Subianto’s administration will not succeed,” she stated.
Jokowi had previously confirmed that his health is improving and that he is ready to meet the public in various regions again. He asserted that his physical condition has fully recovered and expressed his intention to interact more with the community and provide motivation during his future travels. Jokowi admitted to receiving many invitations to meet the public and stated he is now prepared to do so.
