PDIP on Jokowi's NTT Tour: Is He Planning to Show His Diploma?
PDIP Central Executive Board Chairman, Andreas Hugo Parengaran, has responded to the plans of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), to tour Indonesia, starting with East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) next month. Andreas touched upon the controversy surrounding Jokowi’s diploma, which he claims is still being questioned by the public.
“In NTT, many people are asking whether Jokowi’s diploma is authentic or fake. Is this visit by Jokowi intended to present his diploma?” Hugo told reporters on Monday (18/5/2026).
Andreas suggested that it would be beneficial for Jokowi’s visit to NTT to clarify the diploma issue, independent of political motives. He believes the controversy should be resolved promptly to prevent continued public confusion.
“Yes, because in NTT, many are questioning whether the diploma is authentic or fake,” he said. “A matter that should be trivial has become drawn-out without clarity, leaving the public confused,” he added.
Jokowi is known to be touring Indonesia starting next month. The Secretary-General of Projo, Freddy Alex Damanik, revealed the first location Jokowi is expected to visit. “The leak suggests Mr Jokowi will go to NTT to visit seaweed cultivation and greet the people of NTT,” Freddy said when contacted on Monday (18/5).
Freddy noted that the list of Jokowi’s visit locations remains dynamic and that NTT being the first location is still subject to change. However, he explained that Projo officials will always accompany Jokowi during his regional visits, specifically the local Projo branches in the areas he visits.
