PDIP Launches 'Public Pulse 28', a Progressive Intellectual Movement for Youth

PDIP has launched a progressive intellectual movement called Public Pulse 28 at the Party School in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta. PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto stated that this platform serves as a space for the younger generation to convey political ideas. The ‘Public Pulse 28’ platform was launched at the PDIP Party School in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/7/2026). Hasto initially explained that youth are like a fire, symbolising the spirit of aspirations and hope. “At this party school, all ideas and thoughts, an imagination about the future, are opened as widely as possible by taking the spirit from the nation’s founding figures, Bung Karno, Bung Hatta, Syahrir, Tan Malaka, and so many others who inspire us all,” he added. Hasto cited the example of WR Supratman, who at the age of 25 united Indonesia through the song ‘Indonesia Raya’, even though the country was still under Dutch colonial rule at the time. Hasto also mentioned the courage of Bung Karno, who at the age of 26 founded the Indonesian National Party (PNI) on 4 July 1927 to unite young people, ultimately inspiring the birth of the 1928 Youth Pledge. “How could we destroy the power of colonialism, which was then the largest on earth? It began with the ideas and imagination of the youth. Bung Karno founded the PNI at the age of 26, inspired by the spirit of American independence against the British. It was this PNI that inspired the birth of the Youth Pledge,” he said. According to Hasto, many major changes in the world are driven by a handful of young intellectual figures who dare to test their ideas within wider society. Through the presence of young people in the Public Pulse 28 forum, Hasto hopes this movement will give birth to new intellectual leadership capable of addressing societal challenges. “The French Revolution was carried out by only a few people, with three main intellectuals, and it managed to change the world from the hegemony of feudalism. Here, 28 people gather through Public Pulse; let us change Indonesia and the world through the power of these young people’s thoughts,” he concluded.
