PDIP KSB Training: Megawati Instructs Discipline to Strengthen the Ideological Path
Chairwoman of the PDIP Central Executive Board, Megawati Soekarnoputri, officially opened the organisational strengthening agenda for Chairmen, Secretaries, and Treasurers (KSB) of regional boards across Indonesia at the Party School in Jakarta on Thursday, 16 April 2026. The event, held both in-person and online, was attended by hundreds of regional officials.
Megawati was accompanied by General Secretary Hasto Kristiyanto. Other PDIP Central Executive Board members present included Chairman of Ideology and Cadreisation Djarot Saiful Hidayat, Chairman of Membership and Organisation Andreas Hugo Pareira, Chairman of Legal Reform and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly, Chairman of Women’s and Children’s Empowerment Bintang Puspayoga, Chairman of Tourism Yanti Sukamdani, Chairman of Youth and Sports My Esty Wijayanti, Chairman of Foreign Affairs Ahmad Basarah, Chairman of Human Resources Said Abdullah, and Chairman of Forestry and Environment Eriko Sotarduga. Also present were Deputy General Secretary for Internal Affairs Dolfie O.F.P. and Deputy General Secretary for Secretariat Yoseph Aryo Adhi Dharmo.
This moment was used by Megawati to boost the cadres’ spirit amid various challenging situations, and how the party always serves as the backbone of the state with all cadres going down to the grassroots. That is why the opening of the event began with an emphasis on very strict discipline.
PDIP Central Executive Board Chairman Djarot Saiful Hidayat stated that every participant is required to follow the cadreisation process in full. Cadres are not only asked to be physically present but also to prove their understanding through party leadership and managerial tasks.
“The material covers aspects of ideology, geopolitics, Pancasila, and the narrative of liberating the oppressed people, to leadership and management so that the party’s organisational functions run more optimally,” he said.
PDIP General Secretary Hasto Kristiyanto explained that the party school is a place for institutionalising ideology. The party is a people’s movement organisation.
Hasto emphasised that all party cadres must have a burning spirit like the fire of struggle at the party school and continue to burn as a sign that PDIP cadres never give up in fighting for the people’s interests. “Make this training a momentum to awaken the energy of struggle. Contemplate every material given so that it permeates and becomes a guide for party cadres’ behaviour. The people’s trust is an important asset in winning the 2029 elections,” Hasto said.
In her direction, Megawati stressed the importance of understanding the critical-dialectical thinking of Bung Karno so that cadres have a vision for the future while remaining firmly rooted among the people. “I will give a stern warning to cadres who do not want to work maximally in the field. Corruption is prohibited. Go down to the grassroots, feel the pulse of the people’s lives. That is where you will understand politics as life,” she said.
Megawati also presented a sharp analysis of the global situation. She warned of the impact of Iran-Israel tensions in the Strait of Hormuz on the domestic economy and global tensions.
“I have ordered regional heads and council leaders from PDI Perjuangan to take breakthrough policies for budget savings. Prioritise a sense of priority and urgency. Ensure the people’s food needs. Create mobilisation for labour-intensive work,” said Megawati.
Meanwhile, domestically, Megawati conveyed reports from mothers to her about rising prices of basic necessities such as chillies and others. For Megawati, all this should make PDIP cadres not remain silent and instead go even more to the grassroots to help the people.
She then instructed cadres to be creative in helping the people, one of which is through family food security programmes and socialising cheap, nutritious cookbooks to reduce stunting rates. Megawati also gave a serious warning regarding PDIP’s current position as a balancer and not being in the government cabinet.
Megawati reminded cadres not to play around and not to break the law. Besides speaking about external conditions, Megawati also discussed organisational governance, dissecting the specific roles of KSB.
The Chairman is instructed to be able to “unite” all members down to the lowest level, while the Secretary is responsible for party operations. Specifically for the Treasurer, Megawati strictly prohibited mixing personal funds with organisational funds.
“If Treasurer, don’t hold the money yourself. We have endowment fund savings, you know. The Chairman must be able to unite his people. The Secretary is responsible for running the party,” said Megawati.
On the other hand, she emphasised that party financial governance must be proper. Megawati exemplified herself as chairwoman never touching organisational funds, as that is the treasurer’s duty.
Megawati also required regional boards to hold regular meetings, at least once a week every Tuesday with a strict attendance system. Party secretariat offices in the regions must always be ready to serve people who want to join or make membership cards. “Create a habit of meetings. One finds the problem, the second finds the solution. So this keeps running,” she said.
Megawati emphasised that the ultimate goal of all this training is to build a party that is strong ideologically to win the people’s hearts. She wants PDI Perjuangan to become the “Soko Guru” or main pillar for the state and nation.
“Victory for us is not just electoral victory. Victory for us is when the people feel the party’s presence. When the people feel justice. I just want this party to remain upright as the backbone for the state and nation,” said Megawati.
