PDIP Hits Back at PKB's 'Don't Be Ambiguous' Jab: Is the Coalition Itself Clear?
PDIP Central Board Chairman Andreas Hugo Pareira responded to PKB DPR faction chairman Jazilul Fawaid’s request for PDIP to take a firm stance on its position regarding President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. Andreas stressed that his party is a balancing force outside the government. “A balancing party outside the government,” Andreas told reporters on Friday (19/6/2026). “That is the decision of the party congress,” he added. According to him, PDIP’s political stance is already clear. Andreas said his party has also never meddled in other parties’ affairs. “I have never meddled in other people’s parties, and I hope other parties do not meddle in ours. Let the people judge the existing parties and make their decision in the legislative elections,” he stated. Regarding PDIP’s current position, which he said is clear and need not be questioned by other parties, Andreas instead took a swipe at the parties within the government coalition. According to him, the parties in the government coalition are themselves unclear. “Is the coalition itself actually clear?” he said. Previously, Jazilul Fawaid had asked PDIP to take a firm stance on its position towards President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. Jazilul said an unclear stance could create a confusing impression. “I hope they take a firm stance. If they are in opposition, then be in opposition. Don’t be ambiguous. Because we are all working hard to realise what the President has promised. All the programmes have been arranged,” Jazilul said at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (18/6). Jazilul was answering reporters’ questions about the alleged participation of Andi Widjajanto in a protest rally several days earlier. He said the parties supporting the government are currently striving to oversee Prabowo’s various programmes so they run according to target. Therefore, he believes solidity and clarity of stance from PDIP are needed. “So, we hope their position is clear, don’t be ambiguous. We are moving to ensure all programmes run according to target. And we know that we all need unity and solidity to run all the President’s programmes; without that, things cannot proceed. But also, don’t take an ambiguous stance,” he said.
