PDIP Highlights Deadly Clash in Menteng, Urges Residents to Maintain Order

PDIP faction member in House of Representatives Commission III, Nasyirul Falah Amru (Gus Falah), has deplored the inter-group clash that occurred in the Jalan Tambak area, Pegangsaan Urban Village, Menteng, Central Jakarta. Gus Falah has called for the case to be thoroughly investigated.

“We deeply regret the incident on Jalan Tambak yesterday and are very concerned about what happened because this is a recurring event,” Gus Falah said in a statement on Monday (27/7/2026).

Gus Falah assessed that the clash should have been anticipated. He stated that all elements of society must work together to maintain the security and order situation in Jakarta.

“We must all work together to maintain a conducive atmosphere in Jakarta,” he said. “Whatever the reason, what they did cannot be justified in the eyes of the law,” he continued.

Gus Falah also urged that the case be thoroughly investigated as it resulted in fatalities. He expressed hope that the handling of this matter would serve as proof of the professionalism of law enforcement officers.

“We ask the police to investigate, especially since there are casualties. However, I am very confident that the police can resolve this issue,” he concluded.

Police had previously named seven suspects in the deadly clash in the Jalan Tambak area, Menteng, Central Jakarta. The seven suspects are linked to two separate incidents.

Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the first incident involved vandalism. This incident began when a group took offence after being reprimanded by residents for using a noisy exhaust.

“This incident started with the noise from an exhaust. The noise disturbed other residents. They were shouted at, and the individuals involved took offence and returned to the location, but the person who shouted at them was no longer there,” Budi said on Jalan Matraman Dalam, Jakarta, on Monday (27/7).

The group, angered by the reprimand, then vandalised a food vendor’s cart. Residents did not accept this act of vandalism, leading to a second incident involving a brawl and physical assault.
