PDIP East Java Distributes 485 Sacrificial Cows, Emphasises Social Care and Solidarity
Surabaya — The East Java Regional Leadership of PDI Perjuangan has distributed 485 sacrificial cows to the community through PDIP regional and district offices, Islamic boarding schools, mosques, religious organisations, and orphanages.
The annual Qurban program by the PDI Perjuangan East Java family is described as a form of social concern for small communities, particularly those working in the informal sector with low welfare levels.
PDI Perjuangan East Java Regional Chairman Said Abdullah said Eid al-Adha is not only a spiritual act of worship but also an opportunity to strengthen social solidarity within the community.
‘Eid al-Adha is both a spiritual and social act of worship. We want small communities, especially those living in hardship, to still experience the joy and blessings of Eid al-Adha,’ Said said in Surabaya on Wednesday (27 May 2026).
According to Said, East Java’s socio-economic conditions still face serious challenges. He highlighted that 64.4% of the working population in East Java are in the informal sector, higher than the national average of 59.4%. This means many people work without stable income or adequate labour protections. ‘They work hard every day, yet many still do not enjoy a decent standard of living. They lack health insurance, pension schemes, severance pay, and other formal worker rights,’ he said.
