PDIP Claims to Have Forgotten Jokowi, PSI Retorts: Yet They Keep Talking About Him

PSI Central Executive Board (DPP) Chairman Bestari Barus has responded to remarks by PDIP DPP Chairman Andreas Hugo Pareira, who claimed his party has already forgotten the 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). PSI pointed out that Jokowi’s name continues to be discussed.

“Well, thank goodness, if someone has forgotten, they wouldn’t remember, right? But they still keep talking about him,” Bestari told reporters on Monday (15/6/2026).

Bestari said PDIP has not yet forgotten Jokowi. He brought up the fact that Jokowi’s election victories were not due to PDIP, but because of the people.

“They haven’t forgotten yet, they haven’t moved on, right? So we are quite concerned about the feelings PDIP is experiencing over Mr Jokowi’s departure to our party,” Bestari said.

“If the PDIP constitution is not fit to be followed by the President, if it does not align with the President’s duty as a servant of the people. He is not a servant of the party, let alone a mere party functionary. And remember, the ones who won, who made Mr Jokowi win, were not PDIP alone, but the people,” he continued.

He stated that the president is a servant of the people, not of a party. Bestari happily welcomed Jokowi no longer being with PDIP.

“The President is a servant of the people, and the Indonesian people are very grateful, and we are happy. The sooner Mr Jokowi is with us, the sooner the people will get their beloved figure back, I think. Without being intimidated or bullied by parties like that,” he added.

Meanwhile, Hugo had said that internally, PDIP has forgotten Jokowi. However, the circulation of the fake diploma issue accused against Jokowi has reminded PDIP of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Hugo conveyed this while responding to PSI’s statement regarding PDIP being deeply hurt after being left by Jokowi.

“In PDI Perjuangan, we have already forgotten. Because of the fake diploma, this person has emerged again. The diploma algorithm reminded us of this name,” he continued.

According to Hugo, the only thing remembered about Jokowi is the fake diploma issue. “What is remembered is actually the fake diploma, because it is widely discussed in the media and until now there has been no resolution,” said Hugo.
