PDI rift
PDI rift
From Neraca
We kindly ask the conflicting groups within the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) to amicably solve their internal problems without interference from a third party. The political scene has shown us lately that change is highly desirable, but this should not be taken to mean that the government must be toppled and the president needs to be changed. Economic success must be balanced with development in spirituality and democracy.
Change is required in economics and politics. Should protest be taken to the street, it must be done in an orderly manner, and avoid violence. When demonstrations disturb order and traffic, the culprits must be sternly dealt with. I am sure the rift between PDI groups can be solved by listening to the advice of senior party members with many years of experience in handling the political party. There is no need to bring the case to the UN's International Court. Many intellectuals have still not been consulted concerning the PDI affair.
