PDI removes councilor
BANDUNG: The West Java chapter of the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) has removed one of its members from the province's legislative assembly because of his "disloyalty" to the chapter's new executive board.
Hua Uun Sunarya was relieved of his assembly seat as of Sept. 12 by the board, according to the Antara news agency.
Assembly chief Agus Muhyiddin however said that as far as he was concerned Sunarya still holds his seat because by law only the Minister of Home Affairs can remove an assembly member.
"He can still take part in the assembly's activities," Agus was quoted as saying.
Sunarya disowned the chapter's new executive board which was formed last month and gave his support to a rival board formed by an opposition camp. (emb)
