PDI-P's Djarot Taunts Jokowi Diploma Row: 'No Drama, Just Show It'
JAKARTA — PDI-P Central Executive Board Chairman Djarot Saiful Hidayat has urged Indonesia’s seventh president, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), to present his original diploma to quell ongoing public controversy. He argued this approach would be simpler than allowing the matter to proceed through legal channels, potentially to court.
‘Don’t make it a drama. If you ask about my diploma, I’ll show it to you,’ Djarot said following a Technical Briefing for PDI-P Regional Legislative Councils across Indonesia on Saturday, 30 May 2026.
‘He must also explain and present it to ensure public confidence that the diploma is genuine. Just show the diploma,’ he added.
The former Jakarta governor stated this could help neutralise the recurring dispute. ‘Perhaps by showing his original diploma, the controversy can be resolved. So go ahead,’ Djarot said.
Djarot affirmed the PDI-P is not disturbed by the issue, noting Jokowi’s regional visits are strengthening party unity. ‘His visits to various regions actually make our party more united, both internally and in grassroots engagement. He is free to travel wherever he wishes,’ he said.
Jokowi, speaking from his residence in Sumber, Banjarsari, Solo, Central Java, on Monday, 24 May 2026, said: ‘I have many invitations from regions, and since I’m healthy, I will attend them.’
PSI Central Executive Board Chairman Bestari Barus confirmed Jokowi plans to visit Lampung, NTT, and West Java soon. ‘Insha’Allah, he will also meet PSI regional structures and volunteers,’ Barus said.
