PDI Perjuangan: Eid al-Fitr a moment for mutual forgiveness to maintain brotherhood

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) states that the celebration of Eid al-Fitr serves as a momentum to realise national brotherhood for the creation of peace. “Eid al-Fitr becomes a very important momentum to realise national brotherhood through a lifestyle of mutual forgiveness. Especially after a full month of tempering the soul and body through fasting,” said General Secretary (Secgen) of PDI Perjuangan Hasto Kristianto, quoting a message from General Chairwoman Megawati in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday. According to Hasto, Megawati believes that the moment of mutual forgiveness on Eid al-Fitr Day can bring a new spirit to continue providing the best contributions for the nation’s advancement. Therefore, Hasto conveyed Eid al-Fitr holiday greetings to all Indonesian people. Furthermore, as in previous years, Megawati celebrated Eid al-Fitr together with her extended family and closest friends. “As a tradition that is always maintained, Mother Megawati celebrates Eid al-Fitr in a family atmosphere, full of warmth and togetherness with her extended family and friends with typical Nusantara Lebaran dishes. So, there is no open house. She continues the tradition, halal bihalal, celebrating Lebaran with family and friends,” said Hasto.
