Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of PDI Perjuangan, Hasto Kristiyanto, has expressed appreciation for the increase in Yogyakarta City’s local revenue (PAD), which is projected to reach Rp1 trillion in 2025.

“The performance of the Yogyakarta City Government is currently running in line with the directives of PDI Perjuangan Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri, which emphasise the importance of fiscal consolidation steps at the local level to address global economic uncertainties,” Hasto said at the Yogyakarta City Hall on Thursday.

According to him, in response to the geopolitical dynamics following the attacks in the Middle East some time ago, PDI Perjuangan Chairperson Megawati immediately issued special instructions. Local cadres were urged to be creative in managing budgets to remain resilient amid central government policies on cuts to regional fund transfers, which have seriously impacted many areas.

Hasto Kristiyanto visited Yogyakarta City Hall accompanied by the Chairman of the Yogyakarta City PDI Perjuangan Branch (DPC), Eko Suwanto, and was welcomed by Mayor Hasto Wardoyo and Deputy Mayor Wawan Harmawan.

On that occasion, Hasto Kristiyanto gave appreciation for the development achievements during the one-year leadership of Hasto Wardoyo and Wawan Harmawan in Yogyakarta City.

In addition to stunting handling, house renovations, river normalisation, the achievement of increasing PAD to break through the Rp1 trillion mark for the first time was seen as evidence of the successful leadership of PDI Perjuangan cadres that is innovative and pro-people.

“The house renovation programme and labour-intensive infrastructure projects that massively absorb local workers, up to encouraging the transformation of small people into independent productive forces in line with the self-reliant principle. This achievement in Yogyakarta is able to enhance local fiscal independence through creative methods that still prioritise the humanitarian side and the welfare of residents,” said Hasto Kristiyanto.

Chairman of the Yogyakarta City PDI Perjuangan DPC, Eko Suwanto, stated that his side is also fighting for an allocation of Rp120 million per kelurahan/village throughout DIY in 2026.

Eko Suwanto, who is also Chairman of Commission A of the DIY Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD), said that specifically in Yogyakarta City, the budget is focused on accelerating the handling of stunting issues.

“The Rp120 million budget per kelurahan throughout DIY is a commitment from the PDI Perjuangan Faction of the DIY DPRD to address stunting problems and improve the quality of life of the community,” he said.

He stated that a total of Rp5.4 billion has been allocated to accelerate the resolution of stunting issues in Yogyakarta City.

Eko Suwanto mentioned that the target beneficiaries are toddlers and pregnant women, through additional nutritional assistance so that stunting potential can be minimised as much as possible.

“In principle, PDI Perjuangan has a strong commitment to giving birth to happy families. A happy family is one where the children, wives, husbands, fathers, and so on are healthy and well, and live in a good environment,” he said.
