PDI Perjuangan chief gets 5-month term
BANDARLAMPUNG: Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of
Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) Lampung chapter Anshori Yunus was
sentenced on Saturday to a five-month suspended sentence for
abusing a worker.
S. Gani Parlaungan, the judge at the Tanjungkarang District
Court, said that Anshori was guilty of violating Article 351 of
the Criminal Code and would be put in jail if he broke the law
again.
Anshori, through his lawyer, said he would appeal to a higher
court since the district court ignored the fact that a witness
gave false information.
Anshori was put on trial for verbally and physically abusing a
construction worker named Subagyo on June 22 by hitting him in
the face and cursing him.
Anshori became angry at Subagyo when he continued with the
construction of a house on land that Anshori claimed to be his.
