PDI-P Reveals Contents of Prabowo and Megawati's Meeting at the Palace Lasting Over Two Hours

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Hasto Kristiyanto, has revealed the contents of the meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and the fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri at the Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (19/3/2026) today.

Megawati, accompanied by her daughter, House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani, met with Prabowo for over two hours.

“Mother Megawati told me that it was a meeting between old friends and took place amicably for more than two hours,” Hasto said to Kompas.com on Thursday.

He mentioned that they also discussed Megawati’s extensive experience, in which the PDI-P Chairperson was able to resolve multidimensional crises.

In addition, Megawati is considered capable of implementing various policy approaches that always emphasise the importance of a sense of priority and a sense of urgency.

“On that very good occasion, Mother Megawati also recounted her most recent visit to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia,” Hasto continued.

Meanwhile, Hasto added, PDI-P emphasises that Indonesia has a spirit of gotong royong, so meetings between national leaders always align with the nation’s culture, involving mutual dialogue, deliberation, and aimed at the interests of the people, the nation, and the state.

This moment of the meeting was also shared by Prabowo via his Instagram account @prabowo on the same day.

“On the 29th day of Ramadan ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, I received the Fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mother Hj. Megawati Soekarnoputri, at the Merdeka Palace,” Prabowo stated in his post.

Prabowo said that the meeting with Megawati was an occasion for silaturahmi.

“This meeting continues the rapport among national leaders,” Prabowo remarked.
