PDI-P Responds to Prabowo's Directive on Ojol Fee Cut to 8 Per Cent: A Struggle After One Year
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) has responded to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive regarding the reduction of commission fees for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers to application providers to 8 per cent.
DPP Chairman Charles Honoris stated that the President’s remarks are the result of PDI-P’s struggle over more than one year.
“From PDI Perjuangan’s perspective, this is a struggle that has been ongoing for more than one year,” said Charles at GOR Otista, Jakarta, on Sunday (3/5/2026).
It is known that the ojol commission fee to applications is currently 20 per cent.
During the Labour Day commemoration at Monas, Prabowo reduced it to 8 per cent.
Charles welcomed the directive.
“We welcome what was conveyed by the President yesterday,” he said.
Charles hopes that the President’s statement is not just a promise.
He urged concrete steps from the President in the near future.
“We hope it can be realised soon, not just promises made at the event,” he stated.
Adian is mentioned as the figure who vocally advocated for the ojol commission fee reduction.
At the International Labour Day event held by PDI-P, DPP Chairman Mercy Chriesty Barends specifically greeted Adian, who was present at the event.
“Present among us, everyone surely knows because he fought yesterday for the ojol fee to drop to 8 per cent. Who’s that? The strong one! Adian Napitupulu,” Mercy greeted Adian.
