PDI-P Launches 'RedTalks' as a Dialogue Platform for the Younger Generation

MALANG – Said Abdullah, chair of the PDI Perjuangan regional leadership council (DPD) of East Java, has affirmed that today’s young people have a different way of seeing things compared with previous generations.

For that reason, he said, open and equal dialogue spaces have become an important need so that the ideas, criticisms and hopes of the young generation can be heard.

“That is why we are presenting RedTalks. This is not merely a discussion forum, but a shared space where we listen to the voices of young people. For us, the voice of the young is the voice of idealism, because they are not yet bound by various interests,” Said Abdullah told the media on Friday (24/7/2026).

Said explained that today’s young generation—from Generation Y and Generation Z to the early Alpha generation—grows up in two spheres of life at once, namely the real world and the digital world.

This condition gives them a far more complex social experience than previous generations.

“Young people today live in two worlds. They are connected to events across the globe through digital technology. That is why they have broader perspectives, are more critical, and are able to compare conditions occurring in many places,” he said.

According to Said, this situation demands a change in the pattern of communication between policymakers, political parties and the young generation. A one-way approach is no longer relevant to answer the dynamics of the times.

“Young people do not want to merely be listeners. They want to be heard. That is why communication with the young generation must be dialogical, an exchange of ideas, rather than simply delivering messages one way,” he stressed.
