PDAM Pipe Leak Leaves Thousands in Tabanan Facing Three-Day Water Crisis
A transmission pipe belonging to Perumda Tirta Amertha Bhuana (TAB) Tabanan experienced a leak on Thursday (16/4/2026). As a result, thousands of residents in several locations, such as Gubug Village, Bongan Village, and surrounding areas, have been affected by a clean water crisis over the past three days. To meet customer needs, TAB is temporarily distributing clean water by deploying tanker trucks to residents’ homes. In the process, the distribution is not limited but is still adjusted to the needs in customers’ storage tanks. “We are deploying tanker trucks with a capacity of 5,000 litres that are given to customers,” explained the Head of Public Relations Subsection of Perumda TAB, I Putu Wahyu Untung Suardana, when contacted on Saturday (18/4/2026). The distribution is routinely carried out up to the present since reports of disrupted water flow. While supplying clean water to customers’ homes, the company is now accelerating repairs to the transmission pipe that encountered the issue. Wahyu revealed that the leak was discovered when officers conducted routine maintenance by inspecting the transmission pipes on Thursday morning. After the repairs were completed in the afternoon, the water flow to customers was not very strong because there was still a blockage in the equipment. “Actually, the water is flowing but not at full capacity. As a result, we carried out further repairs to restore the flow to normal,” he stated. The company hopes that the issue can be resolved so that the distribution of clean water to customers can return to normal. Even the repair work took until late at night.
