Jakarta (ANTARA) - The PBSI executive board has adjusted the coaching structure in the men’s doubles sector as part of efforts to maintain performance consistency and enhance team dynamics in the face of international competition.

The move is intended to create a fresher, more adaptive, and responsive training and mentoring environment to meet the demands of top-level competition, amid increasingly fierce rivalry on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) tournament calendar.

Under the new structure, Chafidz Yusuf has been appointed as assistant coach of the senior men’s doubles squad, working alongside Antonius Budi Ariantho. Meanwhile, Thomas Indratjaja has been entrusted as assistant coach of the development men’s doubles squad, where he will work with Andrei Adistia.

PBSI stressed that the adjustment is part of a refreshment strategy without altering the direction of the existing development programme, including targets for improved results at Super Series-level tournaments as well as team championships and multi-sport events.

Prior to the rotation, Chafidz held the position of development men’s doubles coach at the national training centre and is known for his experience in nurturing young athletes towards the elite level.

Thomas previously served as assistant coach of the senior men’s doubles squad and has long been involved in the sector’s development system at the Cipayung national training centre.

The structural refresh comes amid the need to maintain depth in Indonesia’s men’s doubles squad, which has consistently been one of the country’s strongest sectors at various international events.

With a combination of elite-level and youth development experience, PBSI hopes the regeneration process will run more optimally and that Indonesia’s competitiveness on the world stage can be sustained.
