PBSI gets more training centers
JAKARTA (JP): The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) received financial aid on Tuesday from five private companies to fund five of its provincial training centers.
The five firms, Jaya Raya of Yogyakarta, Lippo of West Nusa Tenggara and West Java, Pusri of South Sumatra and Sumber Mas of East Kalimantan agreed upon a financial commitment of between Rp 3.5 million (US$1,600) and Rp 4 million ($1,800) per month over the next two years to help the PBSI-run local training centers.
"We are concerned about speeding up the emergence of local badminton talents who are about the same level with those in Jakarta," PBSI chairman Surjadi said after signing the deal.
Surjadi added he planned to set up a new format of nation-wide competitions by splitting the existing clubs into several divisions. (amd)
