PBSI calls up 16 new players
JAKARTA: The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI)
announced on Wednesday the 16 players admitted to the National
Training Center in Cipayung, East Jakarta.
The association's head of development affairs and director of
the training center, Icuk Sugiarto, said the players were chosen
based on the trials of 56 hopefuls held in February, taking into
account their competition results, health, physique, a
psychological test and an evaluation of their future prospects.
The players are Dian Ayu Mayasari, Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari,
Nintya Khrisinda and Wiwis Meilina (women's singles); Fauzie
Adnan, Andre Kurniawan Tejono, Sakti Kusuma, Andreas
Adityawarman, Tommy Sugiarto and Alamsyah (men's singles); Nadya
Melati, Yulianti and Pia Zebadiah (women's doubles); Frans
Kurniawan and Chandra (men's doubles) and Lingga (mixed doubles).
Icuk, who is the father of selected men's singles player
Tommy, said Dian finished sixth in the overall evaluation but was
admitted to the center because she won the women's singles
trials. The association has given her a year to prove herself.

England championships. -- Antara
