PBNU to Hold National Consultative Meetings in Kediri on 20-21 June Ahead of Muktamar

The Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has officially designated the Al-Falah Ploso Islamic Boarding School in Kediri, East Java, as the venue for the National Consultative Meeting (Munas) of Ulama and the NU Grand Conference (Konbes) on 20-21 June 2026. This decision was formalised by the Rais Aam of PBNU, KH Miftachul Akhyar, via instruction letter number 353/PB.23/A.II.08.03/99/06/2026. These two events are organised as preparatory stages leading up to the 35th NU Muktamar, scheduled for August 2026.

“The choice and decision have been communicated to the Honourable General Chairman of PBNU via WhatsApp message since 1 June 20lar,” wrote KH Miftachul Akhyar in the letter, as reported on Saturday (6/6). Through this letter, Kiai Miftah instructed both the steering committee and the organising committee to move swiftly in preparing for the events. “I hereby instruct the Steering Committee and the Organising Committee to work with full dedication and coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure the best possible preparation for the Munas Alim Ulama and Konbes NU,” he emphasised.

The selection of the Al-Falah Ploso Boarding School in Kediri means that two strong candidates from outside Java, which were previously rumoured to be in the nominations—Al-Kautsar Al-Akbar Medan and Shiin Al-Falah Padang—were not chosen. Meanwhile, the Secretary General of PBNU, Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, stated that this upcoming Munas and Konbes represents a crucial and essential momentum. During these forums, PBNU will agree upon all materials to be discussed in the upcoming NU Muktamar.

Gus Ipul revealed that several sensitive and strategic matters are set to be deliberated, ranging from draft association regulations regarding the management of PBNU-owned businesses and improvements to financial governance, to the transition of bureaucratic systems towards a digital direction via the Digdaya platform. “This is a crucial period. There are matters that need to be improved and used as lessons to subsequently be incorporated into the association’s regulations,” said Gus Ipul.
