The Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) continues to refine technical preparations ahead of the 35th NU Congress. The compilation of the final voter list (DPT) for congress participants has reportedly reached 95 per cent and is targeted for full completion by the end of this week.

Secretary of the Steering Committee for the 35th NU Congress, Mohammad Nuh, explained that the committee is working swiftly to ensure the validity of participant data before the organisation’s highest forum opens. According to the schedule, the 35th NU Congress will take place from 27 to 31 August 2026 at Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, East Java.

“The DPT update is now at 95 per cent. God willing, only a little remains. Hopefully by Saturday or Sunday the DPT will be released,” said Mohammad Nuh while providing an update in Jombang on Friday (21/8).

The voter data being finalised includes representatives from all levels of leadership across Indonesia. Mohammad Nuh detailed that there are 548 Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Boards (PCNU) and 28 Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Boards (PWNU) that will serve as official participants.

In addition to the DPT, the committee has also begun distributing invitations digitally to participants. This step was taken to accelerate coordination and ensure delegates arrive on time.

“Invitations have been sent digitally. Opening ceremony invitations have also been sent to each participant, particularly for the opening event,” he added.

He said that PBNU has confirmed that congress session materials have entered the final stage. To accommodate the needs of participants from various backgrounds, the committee is providing materials in two formats: digital and printed (hardcopy).

Mohammad Nuh emphasised that the provision of physical documents is still being carried out as a form of respect for participants who may not yet be fully accustomed to using digital documents. At present, all session materials have been submitted to the printing company.

Regarding the attendance of national figures, PBNU has sent an official invitation to President Prabowo Subianto to directly open the 35th NU Congress. The committee hopes the Head of State can be present among the nahdliyin at this major five-yearly event.

With the location at Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School, Jombang once again bears witness to the journey of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organisation in determining its leadership direction and strategic policies for the coming period.
