PBNU Seeks Finance Ministry Guidance on Mining Cooperative
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed that the Ministry of Finance will deploy its subordinate institutions, such as the Government Investment Centre (PIP) and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI), to provide more affordable credit in support of the PBNU Cooperative. This was disclosed during a meeting between Purbaya and the Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), Yahya Cholil Staquf, known as Gus Yahya. “The Ministry of Finance also has many specialised vehicles, such as the Indonesia Eximbank (LPEI), SMI, and PIP, which can channel funds or credit that is cheaper than market rates,” Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated on Wednesday (22/7/2026). Purbaya pledged to review this potential collaboration with the PBNU Cooperative. “I will see later whether it can cooperate with the NU Cooperative; if possible, we will pursue it,” he added. During the meeting, Gus Yahya sought Purbaya’s guidance on the establishment of the Koperasi Produsen Bangkit Usaha Mandiri Nusantara (KPBUMN), a follow-up to government regulations concerning mining concessions for religious mass organisations. “The hope is for guidance from the Ministry of Finance, because many matters must comply with the state finance regime. We need direction from the Ministry of Finance so that we do not make mistakes,” Gus Yahya said. According to Gus Yahya, the Finance Minister’s guidance is necessary to ensure the management of the mining concession is on target and in accordance with state regulations.
