PBNU Hosts Finance Minister to Discuss Potential Cooperation
The Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) received a visit from Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to discuss potential cooperation on national agendas.
“We discussed many things, the gist of which is that, firstly, NU has an organisational network structure that we can offer as a channel to deliver the government’s national agendas to the public,” said PBNU General Chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf at the PBNU Central Office in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Gus Yahya, as he is affectionately known, revealed that collaboration between PBNU and the government has been ongoing since late 2022, with measurable results seen through various programmes such as the Keluarga Maslahat (Prosperous Family) Movement and others.
He further stated that the audience was held because NU is now also beginning to open up business investment opportunities with various international entities.
“We consulted with the Finance Minister earlier regarding regulations, the channels we must access, and what norms must be followed in terms of investment,” he said.
“Alhamdulillah, the Minister has opened himself up to assist NU in this matter, because whatever NU undertakes has no purpose other than to help the country and the community,” the PBNU Chairman stated.
Gus Yahya expressed hope that this will be well received alongside various government initiatives to improve public welfare.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Purbaya stated that his side responded positively to the various potential collaborations between PBNU and the government, especially regarding downstreaming and industrialisation.
