The Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has officially convened the 2026 Nahdlatul Ulama National Conference (Munas) and Grand Conference (Konbes) at the Al Falah Islamic Boarding School in Ploso Village, Kediri, East Java. This strategic forum serves as a crucial agenda in preparation for the upcoming NU Muktamar.

The Chairman of the Steering Committee for the 2026 NU Munas and Konbes, K.H. Ahmad Said Asrori, stated that this meeting is the final high-level forum in the current PBNU leadership period before entering the Muktamar stages.

"This Munas and Konbes will discuss global issues, ranging from waqi’iyah, qanuniyah, to maudlu’iyyah. Additionally, we are addressing organisational strengthening, programme recommendations, and strategic issues in national and state life," said K.H. Ahmad Said Asrori in Kediri on Saturday (20/6).

The Secretary of the Steering Committee, K.H. Amin Said Husni, explained that although held in parallel, the Munas and Konbes have different positions and functions within NU’s consultative system, sitting exactly one level below the Muktamar. Amin Said Husni emphasised that while the Articles of Association and Bylaws can only be decided at a Muktamar, the Konbes holds full authority to establish Perkum as the organisation’s operational foundation.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee, Saifullah Yusuf, familiarly known as Gus Ipul, confirmed that the opening ceremony commenced on Saturday evening at 19:00 WIB. The series of commission sessions and main discussions will take place over two days, on Sunday and Monday.

"After the proceedings in Kediri are completed, we are scheduled to hold the closing of the Munas and Konbes in Bangkalan on 23 July," concluded Gus Ipul.

Through this forum, PBNU hopes to produce strategic decisions that provide broad benefits, not only for Nahdliyin members and the Islamic boarding school community, but also for Indonesian society at large in facing global challenges.
