PBNU General Secretary Assures Muktamar Preparations Proceeding as Planned
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, the General Secretary of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), has assured that preparations for the NU Muktamar are continuing as planned, following the decision to hold it in August 2026. “Yes, we are continuing with the preparations. Yesterday, the plan for the Muktamar in August was decided,” he stated in a comment in Jakarta on Monday. As a follow-up, he said, a small committee has been established to prepare the composition of committees for various organisational agendas. The small committee consists of four appointees: Chairman of the Steering Committee (SC) KH Said Asrori, Secretary of the SC Mohammad Nuh, Chairman of the Organizing Committee (OC) Saifullah Yusuf, and Secretary of the OC Amin Said Husni. “A small committee has been formed, and it has now finalised the committee composition needed for organising the national conference, the scholars’ assembly, and the Muktamar,” he said. He emphasised that the Muktamar preparation process is proceeding in stages and adheres to the organisation’s mechanisms. “The key point is that the Muktamar preparation process is ongoing. We will later report to the Rais Aam and the General Chairman,” he added. Regarding Muktamar participants, Gus Ipul explained that participants will be branch and regional executives who hold official appointment decrees (SK), while currently delayed SKs are being addressed by a panel team. He noted that the panel is chaired by Muhammad Nuh with Amin Said Husni as secretary. This team is tasked with resolving the pending SKs before the Muktamar takes place. “Therefore, we ask all regional and branch executives to focus on Muktamar preparations. Once again, for the SK requirements, there is now a panel team handling it, and discussions are proceeding gradually,” he said.
