PBNU Finalises Organisational Strategy Ahead of 35th Muktamar
The Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has officially concluded the 2026 National Conference of Religious Scholars (Munas Alim Ulama) and Grand Conference (Konbes) of NU, marking a crucial step towards the 35th NU Muktamar. This forum, the second highest after the Muktamar itself, serves as a strategic foundation for the organisation before it holds the major event from 1 to 5 August.
PBNU Chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf expressed gratitude for the smooth running of the Munas and Konbes, which served as a consolidation of ideas among religious scholars and organisational leaders. He stated that the forum was the most decisive deliberation in preparation for the 35th Muktamar.
‘This completes our happiness after successfully carrying out the entire task of implementing the Munas and Konbes, which is the most strategic deliberation ahead of the 35th Muktamar that we will hold on 1-5 August,’ Yahya said during the closing ceremony, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube broadcast on Tuesday (23/6).
Regarding the location of the 35th Muktamar, Yahya mentioned that PBNU would soon agree on the venue in the near future. The Muktamar is expected to be a momentum for Nahdliyin members to strengthen their commitment to maintaining unity and supporting national development.
Beyond discussing the organisation’s internal agenda, Yahya affirmed that the upcoming Muktamar would continue to carry the spirit of service to the nation. He stressed the importance of steadfast faith and consistency in facing Indonesia’s future challenges.
‘We are all citizens loyal to the state. Citizens who are ready to struggle, who are willing to sacrifice for our beloved nation and country,’ he asserted before President Prabowo Subianto, who attended the forum’s closing.
The 35th NU Muktamar is predicted to be a national focal point, given NU’s strategic role as Indonesia’s largest Islamic organisation in safeguarding social and religious stability. PBNU hopes that through this Muktamar, NU can continue to be present to guard, preserve, and maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
